Welcome to Wheels Week Plus. The popular Mid Canterbury wheels themed event has been rolling through the Ashburton district packed with family fun for all ages since 1990.
The humble wheels week has grown into a 3 week festival of cars, bikes, boats, planes, cycling and more!
If you are into classic cars, speedway sprints, vintage aircraft, love go-carts, classic boats or want to watch or take part in wheelchair basketball, then this is the event for you.

Every year, over 20,000 wheels enthusiasts descend on the Ashburton district to experience the iconic wheels festival event. The event has grown from the original week-long event to include a bumper programme over 4 weekends and 3 full weeks.

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
Our Story
Wheels Week started as an annual tourism event hosted by the Ashburton District Council in 1990. The small community event became an unprecedented hit and by 2007, over 10,000 visitors were streaming in from all over New Zealand to experience the extravaganza of wheels week.
Wheels Week plus has something for everyone – young and old to enjoy. It provides the district with an opportunity to showcase its hospitality, beautiful scenery and exciting Mid-Canterbury lifestyle to visitors who come from all over New Zealand to attend.
The event wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of all of our sponsors, the participants, spectators, and members of our wonderful community to work tirelessly behind the scenes to make it all happen.
